NL VISIÓN · XÀBIA
Putting vision first again
NL Visión was created around a simple belief: an optical practice should start with the person walking through the door, not with the sale that might come out of it.

PLACETA DEL CONVENT · XÀBIA
From Óptica Picó to NL Visión
With over 40 years of optical history at Placeta del Convent, 1, the practice starts a new chapter under Nino Lamm. A fresh approach, with the same connection to the local community.
The profession I wanted to recover
After years working in different optical models, I became very clear about what I wanted to keep and what I wanted to do differently. I am passionate about helping people see better, understand what is happening and make informed decisions. When the commercial side takes up too much space, it is easy to forget that this is also a healthcare profession. NL Visión was created to return to that starting point.
Training and professional judgement
I trained at the Universitat de València, studying Optics and Optometry and later completing a Master’s degree in Vision Sciences and Advanced Optometry. I also work with advanced contact lens fitting, assessing each case individually to find the most appropriate solution for each patient. That training reinforced an idea that still guides my work: behind a prescription there can be much more than a few lines on an eye chart.
A consultation does not have to end with a pair of glasses
Some people arrive convinced they need nothing and discover that an optical solution can improve daily life. Others think glasses will solve the problem, while the examination reveals signs that make another assessment advisable. In both situations our job is the same: listen, examine, explain and advise with your vision first.
Your vision comes first. Everything else comes afterwards.
NINO LAMM · OPTOMETRY IN XÀBIA / JÁVEA
Hi, I’m Nino
I’m an optometrist and the founder of NL Visión. For me, seeing well starts with understanding the person. I was born in the Netherlands but grew up and studied in Spain, and today I work in Spanish, Valencian, English and Dutch.

I did not start out expecting to end up here
I was always interested in physics and I was particularly drawn to optics. My first plan was to study Physics, but I eventually started Optics and Optometry to give it a try. I ended up falling in love with the profession. I was very shy and would never have imagined that, years later, one of the parts I enjoy most would be looking after people.
What I enjoy most: helping people
That matters more to me than anything else in the job. I want every person who comes into the consulting room to understand what is happening, what their options are and why I recommend a particular solution. Every business needs to be viable, but I never want to sell somebody something they do not need.
HOW I EXAMINE VISION
An eye examination does not start with the numbers in a prescription
For me, a good eye examination should be complete. If we look only at the prescription, it is like starting a film at the ending. We listen first, understand symptoms and visual needs, assess how vision is functioning and look at ocular health; only then do we decide what makes sense.
TRAINING · EXPERIENCE
A philosophy built over the years
I graduated in Optics and Optometry at the Universitat de València and later completed a Master’s degree in Vision Science and Advanced Optometry. I spent several years at Specsavers Calpe, a period in which I learned a great deal and one idea stayed with me: we are healthcare professionals before we are salespeople. I later continued working at the same centre during its period as Intervision Expert Calpe. After more than six years of clinical experience, I created NL Visión so I could apply that philosophy with full independence.
OPTOMETRY
Areas I focus on
Refraction
Prescription and assessment of each person’s real visual needs.
Advanced contact lenses
Fitting and follow-up, including toric, multifocal and specialist options when indicated.
Myopia control
Assessment and monitoring of myopia progression and the optical options available for each case.
Ocular health
Optometric assessment, intraocular pressure and retinal imaging when appropriate, looking beyond the prescription.
Dry eye
Optometric assessment of discomfort, dryness, fluctuating vision and contact-lens intolerance.
Guidance and referral
When I find signs that need medical assessment, I explain what I have seen and guide referral to ophthalmology or hospital care when appropriate.
NINO LAMM
Outside the consulting room
I’m a fairly simple person: curious and ambitious about doing my work well. I like to keep learning and improving. Above all, I want to be there for my patients after the examination too — when a question comes up, when something is not working as expected or when something simply needs explaining again without rushing.
